1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Restomod

This 71 Cuda is undergoing what is called a "Restomod". This means that some parts of the car will be restored, and some will be modified. In this case, there will be more modifications than restorations!

On deck is a new 6.1 Hemi and automatic trans from a late model Charger. The Cuda will also receive a full-on Pro-Street treatment. This will require a complete redesign of the framerails and floors, but that's where the fun is.

Here's what we are starting with:

The body has been shelled and the rear framerails are mocked up. Check out the 29x18 Mickey Thompson radials - set for 20" wheels!!! Also, setting that 6.1 Hemi up front looks pretty good - don't you think?

Framerails are mostly complete. Front suspension design is done. Now ready to mount the engine/trans.

Framerails are complete, exhaust pass-through ports are in, rear suspension is set-up (a trick triangulated four-link). Motor and trans are mounted.

Exhaust is plumbed through the frame and 6-point rollbar is built.

Body media blasted, and ready for all new sheetmetal...

A lot of sheetmetal work was done in the course of a week to get it ready to display at a local car show - the locals just had to see what was going on - so we showed them....

Engine bay mockup and front end design..

Front end is complete and car is rolling again - for a few minutes anyway until it's taken back apart to start bodywork on the frontend. A video of the power actuated hood in action can be seen on YouTube at
